Uwaga - bardzo wazny i chyba ciekawy temat dla wszystkich. Otoz jak peweni niektorzy wiedza, jestem obecnie na 3 roku kierunku o nazwie Interactive Media Design. Jednym z moich przemiotow w tym semestrze jest "Group Project". Generalnie chodiz w nim o to, aby stworzyc "cos", a przy okazji nauczyc sie jeszcze lepiej pracowac w grupie i twarzyc cala dokumentacje i papierologie.
I teraz uwaga - dokonalem karkolomnego wyczyny i odwiodlem swoja grupe od pomyslow robienia filmu, gry, itd ale przekonalem ich do zrobienia kreatora postaci do Dergastu. Prawda ze szczwanie?
Mam wiec do dyspozycji 2 programistow, 1 czlowieka od flesha, siebie i jeszcze jednego typa, ktory dopiero wrocil z wlasnego wesela z Dubaju i w zasadzie nie wiadomo czym, sie specjalizuje ;p
To daje 5 osob, ktore MUSZA skoncyzc ten projekt, tak aby dzialal, bo inaczej obleja rok ;) Prawda ze pieknie?
Jendakze nie ma rozy bez kolcy. A kolec jest tutaj calkiem duzy - oni nie mowia po polsku, a Dergat nie jest po angielsku.
Daltego teraz wielka rpsba do osob, ktore chcialy by troche pomoc - potrzebuje rpzetluamczyc na angielski skrtutium zasad tworzenia psotaci (tak zeby wiedizlei co robic), trohe umiejetnosdci i podstawowe rasy - czlowiek, elfk, krasnolud, ogryn, halfling.

Oczywisice system bedzie w wersji online i bedize zawieral opcje dodawania i usuwania elementow, wiec potem wszystko bedize mozna zastapic tekstem po polsku. Niemniej nie mozemy pokazac tego w wresji polskiej szkockim wykladowcom ;)

Licze na to, ze dostrzegacie tutaj ogromna szanse dostania czegos minimalnym kosztem i pomozecie.

ja moge tłumaczyć. tylko, całe opisy um, czy tylko nazwy um?

o jakie scrutium dokładnie chodzi?

EDIT: w klejeniu podręcznika gracza sa w tej chwili 54 strony worda...

Potrzeba opisow kilkunastu przykladowych umijejtnosci. Co do skrutium zasad - im krocej tym lepiej - chodzi o wytlumaczenie po angielsku o co chodzi dla reszty grupy - w sensie co oni maja robic wlasciwe. Moze byc np w punktach i z duza iloscia cyferek.

St (Strength) – This is the general muscle power. This statistics influences the amount of damage inflicted. In addition St*10 roughly describes the number of kilogram the character can lift and carry for a few meters. St*20 is the amount in kilogram the character can lift for a short moment, and St*5 is the weight the character can carry for long distances with nor problem.

Con (Constitution) – Generally speaking this is the resistance of the body against fatigue, discomfort, wounds and diseases. Usually it also relates to the mass of the organism. Con * 10 is the amount of “health points” of the character.

Dex (Dexterity) – consists of balance, coordination and stretchiness. It describes the characters body elasticity, ability to acrobatics and keeping on its feet after being knocked out of balance.

Reflex – Mainly this is the speed of reaction to the factors coming from the characters senses, but to some extent this statistic describes also the speed of movement. In some cases it also determines the amount of attacks the character can perform.

Memory- is nothing else then the ability to study and remember things.

Int (Intelligence) – describes the characters ability to think in a fast and logic manner.

Pc (Perception) – this is the sum of characters all senses, including sight, smell, touch and hearing. In case of some uncommon races there may exist some other strange and unknown to human senses. In case of loosing one of the sense the overall characters Pc decreases.

Magic Power – this is the characters and objects ability to resist magical influence. In our world most things has power equal to 5.Power also determines the characters amount of mana. This is equal to Pow *10. in case of beings or objects which use magic this statistic describes their strength in this domain.

App (Appearance) – this is the sum of factors, such as beauty, shape, way of moving and gesture influencing the way the character is perceived by others.

Wp (Willpower) – this is the characters strength against all the discouraging factors, which cannot be fought with wits or plain muscle power. This is the characters charisma – his ability to convincing and verbally influencing others. This is also the characters resistance to curses.

Skrutium zasad, idealnie bylo by miec na ta srode - to narazie naprawde moze byc bardzo krotkie, chodzi o wyjasnienie w kolejnych punktach, jak sie robi postac (dla programisty tworzacego apliacje), przy zalozeniu, ze jestem an miescu i moge wszystko wytlumaczyc i bardzje rozwinac. Tosiek, pomogl bys przy tym?

Icek i reszta osob skorych do pomocy ;) Gramatyka ne jest istotna, zawsze moga to poptawci miescowi aborygeni. Potrzeba zrobic opisy nastepujacych ras - czlowiek, elf, krasnolud, halfling, ogryn.

Oprocz tego kilkanascie umiejetnosci, wytypuje te ktore beda potrzebne i amieszcze liste niebawem.

tłumaczenia Cd....

In order to make a character for the Dergast world one must follow several steps:

1. choose the specie for the character. Each specie has its own features such as: average values of each of the 10 statistics, a set of skills (the player chooses four + one out of them) and some special abilities (like infravision in case of the elves). each specie has its cost which must be paid with CP. The only exceptions are humans, which cost - 250 CP ( add 250 CP to the starting amount) but have no starting skills.
Once the specie is chosen the player also chooses the height, weight and other physical features of his character, according to the description of the specie.
2. change the basic statistics. (not obligatory) Once the specie is chosen the average statistics are known. The player can change these average statistics in some defined intervals. Increase by first +1 costs 30 CP, increase by an additional +1 costs 50 CP, decreasing by 1 gives 30 CP and by additional 1 50 CP. Increasing more then one statistic to maximum has additional cost of 50.
3. Choose Special Features and Disadvantages. (not obligatory) The player may wish to buy some special features (very strong, resistant to fire, etc) for his character or to give him disadvantages (short-sighted, coward, orphan etc).
4. Choose skills. (obligatory) This is the difficult part. Each skill as its level. Each level allows the character to perform some action by using this skill. The higher the level the more the character can do using the skill. As already mentioned each specie has some starting skill (except for humans). Each player chooses 4+1 skill out of the possible starting skills for the particular specie he has chosen. 4 of the chosen skill are at level 4 and one is at level 5. for these skill the character does not pay anything. Usually a starting character has at least 20 skills. Levels and costs:

But there is a little catch. Some skills have additional requirements. For example “horse ridding” at level 4 requires “animal care” at level 3 or higher. So be careful…

5. Social Standing. Now the player decides whether the character is a noble (additional cost in CP) or a wanted criminal (additional gain of CP)
6. Shopping . At the very end the player decides what equipment should the character have when starting his adventures. Each 1 unused CP is at this point transformed it 1 Gold Piece (GP). For Gold the character can buy anything (1 sword costs 2 GP). A character which has not bought anything doesn’t have anything! Literally!

1. Aims

Our group project will be to create a website that will allow people to create, store, and maintain characters for paper-based role playing games, such as dungeons and dragons.

The point of the website is to aide people who’re unfamiliar with the rules of character creation in these games, and use the processing power of our server to handle validation and thinking, rather than using the time of the user.

Once we’d outlined this, we got to thinking about which character system to model first. The two suggestions put forwards were Dungeons and Dragons, the first paper-based role playing game (now in its 3rd edition), and Derghast; a polish game that one of our team members played.
We decided that we’d prototype the system with Derghast, and if time permits, we may add others. The aim is to allow the site to handle multiple game systems, and have a robustness that allows for easy expansion.

We’ll attempt to model most, if not all, of the Derghast character attributes, and rules that the game has, although in some cases, this may be difficult.
The game’s native language is Polish, and no English translation of the manuals has been found yet, so we are relying on our team mate to translate the relevant parts for us.

2. Scope

In early discussions, the subject was raised of creating a java-based applet to do this; however we have since decided to make a web-site instead, using PHP and a MySQL database.

The website will be a simple, built to task system. We discussed whether it would have a social aspect, and determined that since the games take place off the internet, and in physical environment, an internet social system, such as a message board or forum, would be potentially counter productive.

The website will not replicate the actual game play of the systems it creates characters for, it will merely be a safe repository for the characters themselves. To create the actual games on a web-based system would require an in-depth programming approach, and in-depth knowledge that is simply unavailable to us.

3. Services

3.1. Create new characters

The website will allow users to create a new character from scratch, confirming to the rules and conventions of the system of their choice. Character will be system-specific, and the user must specify the system before they can create a character.
The website will also have a more relaxed-page to allow users to upload existing characters, which may be less common, and more exotic; meaning that the creation rules would be much harder to enforce for more developed characters.



3.2. Character Templates/ suggested skill sets.

The website will have default values as templates for different character types/species on different systems. Allowing users to see what a typical example of the character they’re creating might look like, and customise from there.
This would be a very useful feature to a beginner, who may not have any experience in good character creation.


3.3. Update characters

As users play with their characters, they will invariably change and grow. The website will allow users to update their characters whenever they wish, with guides and rules in place to help them get it right, for the system.
The nature of these games means that character creation is not a one-off thing. Characters are always growing and changing, and the website and database will be built to accommodate this.

3.4. Overview of all characters/systems

Users should be able to see at a glance all the characters that are associated with them, and have a brief summary of them. They will also be able to set which characters they are actively playing with, so these appear in a convenient area.

3.5. User control

User control will not be rigorously enforced; it is not a security critical system. However passwords and sign-ups will still be required for the web-site, and anonymous using will not be enabled.
Users will be able to create and maintain their accounts and the details it holds, such as email address and password.
The system will not need to hold much more information than this, as there is no on-line social element in our web-site.
Users may be able to browse through the database of characters, and view others in a read-only capacity.

Dzieki Toskowi mamy skrot zasad po angielsku, dzieki ktoremu mozemy wogole zaczac prace. Icek za to tlumaczy pare przykladowych ras.

So now time for next task ;)

Nadnaturale i ulomnosci. Potrzebujemy 10 przykladowych nadnaturali i 10 ulomknosci. CZy bylo by problemme, gdyby np Tosiek podjal sie nadnaturali, a Icek Ulomnosci? To tylko moja propozycja podzialu zadan, moze ktos jeszcze jest chetny do pomocy.
Potrzeba dowolnych 10 , z uwarunkowaniem roznych wartosci punktowych - od najtanszych do najdrozszych - 25 do 1000 (to chyba terminator lub dotyk midasa). Tak samo w przypadku ulomnosci + koniecnzie przemiany magiczne.

co do tłumaczenia- chwilowo mam miesiąc na dokończenie pracy mgr, więc w "wolnych chwilach" postaram sie cos tam przetłumaczyć i tu wrzucić...

wystarczy po 10 przeman z kazdej grupy (lekkie, srednie, ciezkie) - chodiz o o to, aby umiesicc to w silniku systemu, zeby potem mozna bylo tylko dodac nowe teksty

Extraordinary Abilities

Gaia’s Gift – cost: 250 – Each encountered animal, which is not a monster or a magical being, has friendly attitude towards the character

Chameleon – cost: 150 – when the character is naked he/she can, during 1 round, recreate the exact colours of the background regardless where she/he is. The character controls this ability. This works when naked only. Game Master be advised – this does not mean that the character is invisible and its movements are easily noticed.

Night Deer- cost:400 – the character doesn’t need to sleep. At all.

Midas Touch – cost:1000 – the character can once a week change any object into gold (1 kg per 1 point of willpower). In case of living beings (including plants) this works only when the character is able to change them all at once.

Liar – cost:150 – lies of the character are very convincing and cannot be detected, even magically.

Self Regenerating – cost: 250 – the character has a natural ability to heal ten times faster then normal. This effect takes place on its own in every condition. In addition this ability is capable of stopping agony.

Wandering Dragon – cost: 250 – once a day the character is capable of breathing fire. During 5 rounds it generates a cone of fire twice as large as the characters size modifier, dealing k50 damage. Additionally it can incinerate cloths, dealing another k10 of damage per round.

Cats sight –cost:150 – the characters eyes are adapted to darkness, the range and focus of sight are almost the same as during daylight. However at least a bit of light is required.

Weather Master – cost: 300 – the character can summon any weather after a successful willpower test. This does not include extreme catastrophic weather. In case of a failed willpower test the weather changes at random.

The Chosen One – cost: 500 – the character has additional 10D100 points for start. The thorough must be made in presence of the game master.

Disabilities

Fear of heights – premium: 50 – the character I scared of heights. Being at any level above 1 meter and being aware oft eh fact can cause panic attack.

Mutation – premium:
Light mutation – 50
Medium mutation – 100
Sever mutation – 150
For some reason the characters body has mutated. When you have finished (!) the character, through d100 to determine the particular mutation from the mutation tables.

Hypersensitive to magic – premium: 50 – any spells have double effect on the character and defending against then is twice as weak (only half of Power). NOTE: this does not include physical influences caused by magic (fire, lighting bolts etc).

Drug Addict – premium: 500 – the character is strongly addicted to drugs. Not taking the proper amount causes the decrease of Perception and Willpower by 1 per day, until they are equal 1. once this has happened the strength of the character starts to decrease in the same way. When it has reached 1, the character has 50% chance of dying, but surviving allows the character to drop the addiction. Them strength, willpower and perception return to their initial value at 1 point per week. However perception is decrease by 1 for ever. NOTE: drugs in the old world are very expensive and very rare.

Workoholic – premium: 25 – when the character has not worked in his/her profession for more then one week, he/she begins to have illnesses, pains , gets sick etc.

Controlled Psycho – premium: 25 – the character reveals symptoms of a controlled psycho, meaning the player chooses and controls characters behaviour. Should there be no symptoms in the characters behaviour then the game master may take control over the character.

Orphan – premium: 10 – the character has no family and no family wealth. The only possible social standing is a strider.

Unmagic – premium: 50 – the character is not able to cast spell, use magical objects (except for artefact due to their great power) and generally cannot use magic. The character is also not affected by any spells (but not by their physical effects like fire, lightings etc).

Blood sucker – premium: 100 – the character must feed on human (including elves, dwarves etc) blood, but doesn’t have to avoid light and so on.

Merciless – premium: 25 – the character has no regrets in case of finishing his/hers enemies and feels no pity. Furthermore the character is not able to stop its behaviour, ie even if leaving the enemy alive might help later on.
